Overview
The Technology Center for the Delta (TCD) is the official headquarters of the Crossroads Coalition. The Technology Center is owned by Cross County and has its own Board of Directors, the chair of which serves on the Crossroads Coalition Board of Directors and its Executive Committee. Two other TCD represenatatives also serve on the Board of Directors.

History

The idea for creating the Technology Center for the Delta came from a 2001 partnership between the Cross County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) and the University of Arkansas . CCEDC purchased a 42,000 sq. ft. building formerly occupied by a "big box" retailer. Students enrolled in a University of Arkansas Interior Design course in commercial space planning proposed alternative uses for the space as part of a class project. This became the first project in UA's Students Engaged in Economic Development - SEED - program.

CCEDC selected the best ideas from the student plans, arranged for funding from various sources, secured future tenants, and contracted for extensive remodeling of what is now called the Bill Thomas Building (named after the late Bill Thomas who led in the initiative to create and build the Technology Center ). The building opened in August, 2006 at a cost of approximately $2 million. Its first major event was hosting the 1st Annual Meeting of the Crossroads Coalition.
